My #FishShell experience in the span of less than 24 hours. It does live up to its name in multiple ways!
-
- Start experimenting with a new shell
- Notice that one of its features does not play well if you do something crazy
- Find the code responsible for the issue
- Patch it out (remove a few lines)
- Propose it upstream to conditionally disable the code, hinging on a shell setting
- Upstream says no (they're right, the proposed hack was bad)
- A little sad, but also delighted because I don't have to lift a finger (my own patching out works fine)
- Upstream proposes a better solution
- A little sad, because I'm not familiar enough with the codebase to implement said solution myself
- Upstream implements their solution
- I test it, it works like a charm.
- Very happy
