it boggles my mind that the lack of medical resources in the 1950s to treat every trans person who wanted to transition is the core memetic reason why Gender Clinics 70s years later now perform a framework that mimics the same lack of medical resources.

doctors in the field now mostly dont know why they follow this framework so they have to fill in the blanks with their own prejudices.
why do we ask trans people how they masturbate? must be for a very valid reason! I cant be working in a terrible field of medical care that is barely able to be recognised as care, this must be the trans peoples fault.

annual reminder the UK, after giving up on WPATH standards of transhealthcare in terms of diagnosis of gender incongruence several years ago, due to it becoming dangerously close to treating trans people like they're not filthy liars, still hasnt figured out a new set of criteria for diagnosis.
sure, just make it up, use diagnostic criteria that has been given up on by even the people who wrote it.

do they have the medical resources to provide care for every trans person that applies? yes.
Do they want to? no.

My gender clinics medical system and records was held hostage by ransomware hackers for months. In an actual clinic that was trying to treat patients this would be an immediate problem.
I turned up for an appointment that had been scheduled many months prior to find a receptionist pretending to type into a nonfunctional computer system before then leaving the room with my name on a post it note - went and sat in the (as usual) completely empty wasteland of a waiting room and finally was met by a rumpled clinician who might have just woken up, asking me if we actually had an appointment.

@siege Some of these clinics might as well post a sign, something like
Dear patient,
please play along while the doctor performs the St Freud's Memorial Psychoanal Ritual.
You wouldn't want to make the doctor mad, would you?
