When Stallman stepped down in 2019 and then announced he was back in 2021, this was presented as him coming back when he'd never stepped away.
But for some time the FSF has stopped being relevant for many of us. It can exist or not exist as far as I'm concerned.
I certainly trust them less now.

But centralised movements are always at risk. Because there's a single point of failure. One of the reasons for keeping Stallman on at the FSF was the question of who could replace him.
Folks if you believe that you don't have a movement, you have a cult.

Although to be fair by 2021 our days of trusting the FSF were certainly coming to a middle.
We'd changed Librecast's licences and removed the "or later clause" before that.

I've been trying to find discussions I thought I remembered reading about choosing an alternate steward for license upgrades, with no luck so far.

@idlestate I'm not sure what the answer is.
But for Librecast, there are a plethora of licenses to choose from should we need to adapt. More resources for projects to understand licences would be useful.

@onepict my guess is that the FSF took rms out of the limelight while they took the time to investigate the claims, and when they were satisfied that the claims didn't merit him stepping down, they allowed him back under the light.
