"I believe this election turned out the way it did in no small part because a large number of Americans are now submerged in new factories of lies more insidious than anything Orwell imagined,"

@havvyhh2 Yes.
-
@Nazani That would be something, for sure, if it happened.

@Uair I think we should be inherently suspicious of anyone who claims to have "the" answer, shouldn't we?

William Lindsey :toad:replied to David Nice last edited by
@davidpnice I think this is the thing: let tyrants in the making get a foothold, and you'll inevitably see normalization and rewriting of history, along with attempts to distort reality. Fascist regimes demand that as an indispensable essential for sustaining themselves.

@WarnerCrocker I can understand that impulse, for sure.

@Swalsh Thank you so much.

*sigh*
You are quibbling semantics.
Thinkers have known the necessity of systemic change toward sustainability and social justice since Diogenes was adulterating the currency.
19th century Europeans worked out the principles of how to structure a society that works for all.
Even the most willfully ignorant among us have seen the necessity of doing so since WWI demonstrated the abject failure of the old way.
Between The New Deal and the various European social democracies sandboxing the real world mechanics of managing a liberal society, humans as a species have known the need, the principles, and how to implement large scale change for over fifty years.
We have the fucking answers. It's not "one answer", and part of me thinks you are deliberately misinterpreting me.
The "one answer" I gave was to the "one question" of how to "answer" "The Psycho-Social-Techno Politics of 'MAGA' Trumps Democracy". And that's reconstruction. Go in there with violence and pry them out of their bullshit silos. It woulda worked last time but the liberals backed down and let the KKK, Jim Crow, etc etc steal a century from us.
(Liberalism=liberty=a political philosophy, not a dogma.)

"Speaking with Russian state media on Monday, Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev noted that while the U.S. election may be over, Trump is still beholden to 'certain forces.' …
'To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces to which he has corresponding obligations,' Patrushev told the business daily Kommersant…."

@Uair Thank you for the lecture. I'll give it the consideration it merits. When someone begins a statement to me with a dramatic sigh, my wont is to stop listening. And engaging. Hope you understand.

@wdlindsy Just wait until fresh produce will only be affordable to the rich. Oh and McDonald's French fries don't qualify as vegetable substitutes.

Yes
And it worked
2 years
The suffering will either be a wake up call ?
Or the fascist Nazi's will be the Normal for America
I am Old
I will not suffer much in this New Era
My Ending is in sight
Young people will soon regret their lack of participation or misconception of their own futures
Trump is a Sociopath
He will not become something else
This Tomorrow will be a Dark History for many when Freedom dies & America diminished, until its gone -

@wdlindsy Not that I know how to do it, but I see this at least partially as a failure of American education. Recognizing a fascist should be the one thing that everybody knows — and that they know not to vote for it.

@wdlindsy yeah. But isn't this like the Pepsi challenge. Most people preferred the taste of Pepsi in a blind test.
But people don't drink soda blind. Brand is important too.
I'm starting to come to terms with the Democrats in general (not just Kamala) having a branding problem with everyday Americans.
Sure, there are Nazi extrmeists too, and they suck. But I still believe most people aren't that shitty.

@wdlindsy @lolonurse @Variant488 Bookmarked a number of these for later reading. Too hard to do this all at once.

It's not terribly different from a cheer squad or football team where everyone was on the same page, same team, had the same choreography or playbook, until some lunkhead decides to suggest the team captain or cheer captain want to sabotage their plan... it makes no logical sense- it's just stupid hormones, low blood sugar, or someone looked at someone in the wrong way, & the BS begins, for no actual reason. -
