"The 2024 election is in part about whether women can be free and equal citizens of this republic.

@wdlindsy it resonates, all right. By making me want to see a US government run entirely by Black women for the next 8 years or so. But I'll settle for a Black woman as President, and a House and Senate actually controlled by Democrats and voting for Democratic priorities.

@wdlindsy Forgetting surveys...early voting is showing a gender gap of 10% in GA, NC, MI etc...GA early voting is over today. So unless Tuesday is overwhelmingly male voters the gap is going to be larger than in 2020 which was around 3.5%. Now i cannot imagine that the extra number of female voters are breaking evenly. If i am correct...both NC and GA will be called early in the night. I am willing to bet a beer or a chocolate on this logic.

@tizan Thank you for that report about the early-voting figures and what they may mean. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and trying to hold onto hope.

@oddhack I'm with you, 100%.

@Awoke Touché. Unless Trump means by protection placing "rebellious" women in front of firing squads!

@Rana You're absolutely right.

@KatLS That tracks, for sure. Laws are for some people, not others, it seems.

@wdlindsy Great add, thought you where recommending Mastodonmigration at first. Find as of late Universodon spotty in service, but seems hard to move. Hell one can start over with a clean slate. Will miss my followers though.

@Piousunyn I do definitely recommend @mastodonmigration.

I wonder how many Stepford wives and zombies would have voted differently, had they heard his pronouncement first. But I'm still not letting go of my furtive optimism. -

@lolonurse Furtive optimism is such a good phrase here. I am trying to hold on to that furtive thing myself.

@wdlindsy
And I'm clinging to the optimism part. If I read too much, or watch TV too much, I become terrified (or nauseous), so I'm trying to limit exposure. Hell, even Rachel looked haggard on Monday night. -

@lolonurse I appreciate very much your encouragement (and support) to be optimistic. I'm by nature inclined to be a glass half-empty kind of person. Or maybe it's not nature and the result of having grown up in a household headed by two alcoholic parents who were just, I have to say with all due respect for them not equipped or fit to raise children. Hope and optimism are a struggle for me, but I keep struggling! I appreciate you.
