“'I’m going to be voting that we need more than six weeks,' Trump told NBC on Thursday. ...
But that wasn’t what his campaign had expected him to say. In a statement to NPR, Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt left the political decision ajar, insisting that 'President Trump has not yet said how he will vote on the ballot initiative in Florida, he simply reiterated that he believes six weeks is too short.'”

"Trump’s remarks quickly stirred confusion and anger by evangelical allies critical to his decade-long hold over the Republican Party. ...
Trump nominated three of the justices on the Supreme Court who voted to reverse federal abortion protections in 2022, and his running mate, J.D. Vance, voted against a Senate bill that would have provided federal IVF protections."

"Don’t be fooled. Not for a moment.
JD Vance and Trump are suddenly and desperately trying to run away from their extreme positions on abortion and reproductive freedom.
But not only does Project 2025 propose a host of anti-abortion policies, and not only does Trump brag about eliminating Roe v. Wade, Trump himself openly embraces one of the most extreme and far-reaching anti-abortion views out there."

"This is some cynical bullshit. No one should fall for this, but Trump has a big megaphone, an obsequious party that will let him say what he wants, and the eyes of overly credulous media that cannot cover his lies accurately.
The idea that Trump would veto a federal abortion ban passed by a Republican or stop his Project 2025 apparatchiks from banning abortion is absurd."

"Journalists know that what Trump is promising contradicts everything we know about how Trump — who, you know, was actually president and had four years to implement this policy if he actually believed it — but decided to just parrot his propaganda without calling it into question."

I know this is hard to believe, but the Orange Shit-gibbon *has* no values or principles other than victory and privilege for himself. That's it. He'll say or do whatever he thinks he needs to in order to win and stay in power.

@wdlindsy
I believe Trump's promises on abortion about as much as I trust anything else he says: not at all. The only time I believe him is when he promises to do something awful. He may fail in his attempts through incompetence, but he's likely to try. -
