I was a guest on two podcasts this week. And while they both are very tech related and the current issue is way bigger than that I still think both got more important given the election results.
A lot the infrastructures we depend on depend on the goodwill and support of a bunch of people who just helped a fascist rapist become president again or at least did not have the guts to push back. Even a bit.
And as people interested in the commons we need to rethink our approach.

My main point is that "Open Source" no longer cuts it.

@tante Point completely on point but I'm not sure how to call the real "open" thing now.
Being able to do tech stuff without enabling big tech to ruin your democracy doesn't translate very well into an acronym

@tante many people underestimate the power of the Infrastructure as a whole. 70% of all services are part of one of the three big cloud service providers. Which all are under US control.
Open source cannot compensate for your reliance on rented hardware and network connectivity that has been outsourced.
We need to talk much more about Infrastructure, who owns it and the power of that ownership, and not only about the software that runs on it.
