@FrozenPeach That's a flagrant example of whataboutism for a democracy, no? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whataboutism

WW3 started when putin, the aggressor, introduced military ground forces of a foreign country. Ukraine only receives assistance to defend itself against the invader -- fully covered by international law.
Of course, Biden should have authorised all this earlier. But that wasn't politically possible. Now it is, because the Democrats are finished anyway.

@aerofreak Deterrence theory doesn't work with state actors ruling over a non-democratic and extremely centralized State who have nothing to loose. Believing the opposite of that is pure LUNACY: https://www.forbes.com/sites/lorenthompson/2014/08/18/what-if-deterrence-doesnt-work-anymore-five-reasons-to-worry/

@aerofreak Do you think Putin is a rational actor in this war? Do you believe that Putin has anything to lose by using nuclear weapons? Do you believing that after Putin is finished, Russia will have a more rational, peace-making, tolerant, and democratic ruler? Of course not! Russia is and has always been imperialistic. Exactly like the US. The difference is that while Russia is a Dictatorship and Ukraine an hybrid regime, the US still is a Democratic country.

@remixtures how pathetic are you buying this absolutely typical street bully crap from putler. Thoughts as weak as these - that what causes dictators to crawl out and poison every part of the civilized world. Either that or you are one of rus propagandists.
-
@remixtures Sigh, nope. If WWIII starts it will be because Putin wants it to start. He could "save the world from WWIII simply by leaving Ukraine." So no, this isn't America's problem, it's Russia's problem.

"After more than two years of grinding conflict, Ukrainians are increasingly weary of the war with Russia. In Gallup’s latest surveys of Ukraine, conducted in August and October 2024, an average of 52% of Ukrainians would like to see their country negotiate an end to the war as soon as possible. Nearly four in 10 Ukrainians (38%) believe their country should keep fighting until victory.
Ukrainians’ current attitudes toward the war represent a decisive shift from where they stood after it began in late February 2022. Surveyed in the months after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Ukrainians were defiant, with 73% preferring fighting until victory.
In 2023, support for fighting until victory slipped, but more than twice as many Ukrainians favored a continued fight (63%) over a negotiated peace (27%). Fatigue has intensified this year, with support for negotiated peace rising to 52%, the first time it has reached a majority."

@ChuckMcManis What about the opinion of the Ukranians? What is Democracy good for if the people's will doesn't count? And what right does the warmonger and imperialist USA has to intervene in the foreign affairs of independent sovereign countries? Ukraine is not a province of the USA and Russia is not Mexico!

@evildeig Sorry, but I just believe no nation has the right to intervene in the foreign affairs of sovereign and independent nations.
