btw if your remote software engineering job says "The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to occasionally liftand/or move up to 10 pounds."

you are discriminating against disabled people for no reason. quit that shit
-
@noracodes seen this in every qualcomm job posting, absolutely no idea why it is included as well...
-
@dunderhead It's literally just so they can legally discriminate against physically disabled people. It's really disturbing.
-
@noracodes what… what’s the point of doing that if you’re in remote?
-
@steffo They don't want to hire disabled people ️
-
@noracodes That seems bizarre. Why would the remote software engineer have to walk or carry something?
-
@mu They wouldn't - I'm serious about it being a way to legally discriminate against disabled people. If they admit that it's not necessary, they would have no basis on which to prefer and abled person over a disabled one.
-
@noracodes Many of us in the community view these "requirements" as an attempt to screen for abled applicants, in fact.
-
@chicating Yep, I agree.
-
@[email protected] willing to bet the required employee training talks about how we all need to be sensitive and understanding and not screen out disabled candidates, as well
I wonder if they're genuinely confused as to why people wait until they're hired to disclose (and only then if necessary). Not that the company won't find a way to get rid of you once they figure it out anyway.
