I cannot fathom the brainworms it takes to dismiss someone's blog post containing a vulnerability disclosure as "FUD"... and then immediately admit that you didn't even read the blog post... and then call the blog's author "ignorant".

@soatok Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt, are all justifiable reactions to have towards real issues. The only time it isn't is when it's spread via literal misinformation. It's the same kind of brain worm that has people saying you can't criticise Biden or Harris because that would make you a Trump supporter. If someone calls something FUD, it's safe to assume they're operating off of vibes and politics instead of the actual details that matter and need discussion. They're just volunteer PR reps.

@ttamttam @soatok I think of it like the spoon theory.
the idea of how many "spoons" we have to deal with something. (this is used with chronic illness and limited quantities of energy)
to a certain extent, learning things that conflict with your worldview takes glucose, and is slightly painful (to your ego).
maybe it's an evolutionary thing to conserve energy and go into survival mode, to block out things you can't deal with.
a great deal of whether or not you'll learn (or even consider their view) is your own emotional disposition and maturity, AND whether your intellectual opponent was hostile.
because people (good or bad) have limited mental energy for what they perceive as noise. and especially limited energy for what they perceive as personal attacks.
maybe they're just protecting their ego. or their ego was never challenged as they grew up and they never had the temperament or recognition in their professional life of how vuln mgmt works.
