Step 1 of taking a bicycle 120 miles out of San Francisco without a car: ride to BART station (the subway in the Bay Area ).

The only reliable way to get from San Francisco to Monterey without driving is the $62pp airport shuttle from SFO. Kind of nuts given how a major global tourist attraction is in Monterey (my employer). It all assumes everyone drives and everyone drives because there aren’t good transit options.

@[email protected] I am loking at the monterey/salinas transit and there's a JAZZ bus but google maps just draws a straight line from san jose to prunedale, and I know that's not right. I have never ridden it but am curious

@pagrus that’s the airport shuttle. San Jose then Prunedale. Google maps is extremely unreliable for these parts. It told me the next bus 20 is 7:15 but that’s not right. It didn’t even show the bus here at all in the transit center in Salinas

@pagrus haha yeah that bus is very local
-
@skinnylatte Would MBA-operated shuttles pay for themselves in increased attendance?
-
@evanwolf probably but attendance is also already incredibly.. large

@[email protected] is it any easier to get there from santa cruz? I feel like that leg at least is more frequently traveled from sf, I had a friend who taught at uc and would make the trip twice a week

@pagrus yeah and you get into even more local traffic there as Santa Cruz to Monterey and vice versa is a common commute but everyone doesn’t by car also coz the options are so poor
-
I got rained on this morning so it’s getting extremely cold. My bike is on the bike rack and I’m getting hangry
-
@skinnylatte was this trip a test-run, then?
-
@SnoopJ I’m going to use the shuttle. Just did this for fun and to transport my bike

@skinnylatte ahh, you're stashing it there for work use?
Edit: I've just scrolled back on your feed and found the post where you say so. Nice!

52 min later, we arrive in Monterey. It’s the last stop. The transit center is pretty well located and you can walk or bike to many hotels from here (unless you’ve opted for a fancy hotel closer to the water / aquarium). There’s a grocery store and some decent restaurants. I’m going to check out a very traditional and cheap Japanese restaurant that’s been here forever.

This is giving me life. Ocean Sushi Deli in Monterey. High quality and homely food. Reminds me of my Japanese friend’s house when I would go get fed by her parents. Hehe I’m so glad I have this spot

@skinnylatte yum!

@skinnylatte Wow. Kerning got me... I really really thought that said horney, not homey.
I spent far longer than I should admit wondering how food could be horny, and why you would make such an obvious spelling mistake.
I should get some sleep or something... looks yummy though!
