@dimillian app review approved that? How are they getting their cut?

@paul They just started to crack down on Patreon, I think my little Mastodon client has time.
I can remove the custom UI BTW, but nothing they can do about a social network opening webview to do Apple Pay from a DM link lol. -

@dimillian just for the record I don’t agree with Apple’s stance on this stuff was just surprised it didn’t get flagged during review.
-
@dimillian @paul But presumably they will take a cut once they realize they aren’t.
How would this DM thing work? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the ease of payment?

@paul there is no way for them to see that. It’ll not show unless you browse specific test profiles. The idea is that we’ll deal with Apple if we get noticed because the service gets big. I can’t wait to see the press shitting on Apple about the creator economy yet again.

@dimillian Payments made outside of the App Store still require a cut, even if it’s on a third-party website, if the link comes from within the app.
They didn’t back down on taking their cut, just on being the only payment processor option.

@dimillian absolutely not the approach I'd ever risk taking, but I can see why you would. I wish you good luck with it, I think it's something that should be allowed in apps but got to imagine it's not going to be something Apple likes (if they notice it).

@paul @dimillian Yeah, deliberately evading a rule you know to exist seems maybe ill-advised? Not defending the rule, just doesn't seem like the most prudent thing to do as an app developer.

@dimillian @bart @IceCubesApp This would help those who run instances tremendously. Will this only be for "Premium Feeds" on certain instances?

@uther @dimillian @IceCubesApp hi uther! @tchambers gave us the idea that we should offer a set of features specifically for instances, so that’s what we want to ship in the next 30 days. An alternative to ko-fi and patreon for your instance supporters - cheaper, cool AP features. BUT we can also: (1) work with you on integrated premium feeds or (2) work on a paid instance - excited to chat with instance owners such as yourself!

@dimillian Very coo! Great to see this out!
