Putting together a list of things I'd need to buy before I could do frame building for other people and my McMaster-Carr cart is already at $3,930.62 and that's without any of the big bicycle specific items like a frame jig and while doing all the mitering and machining by hand (although not all of this is something I'd need up front; plenty of workarounds)

@sam a barely adequate metalworking shop of any kind is a crazy expensive endeavour. framebuilding is a whole other beast, even when flame brazing

@sam are you already making frames for yourself?

@SarraceniaWilds I've made a grand total of 1 fillet-brazed frame and have all the tubes and lugs for a second lugged one ready to go, I just need to start by finding a place with an Oxyacetylene torch I can use or go ahead and start by buying that setup (which is about $500 of the cost I listed, renting tanks and buying gas not included).

@sam I’m convinced that if I took her frame building class I would be in your exact shoes right now.

@amd it was fantastic and well worth the cost, I very much recommend it! Danielle Schön's class was excellent and she's a fantastic teacher:
