Inspired by @bw's "HTML for People", I'm putting together a short list of resources for making and keeping the web free, open, and poetic.

I mention it in the article, but one experiment I've been working on is https://simplepagebuilder.app, which lets you make a simple web page, and shows you how to host it on Glitch or Neocities.
I also opened a feature request to have something like this integrated on Glitch, so if you use it, and like the idea, go give it a vote!
A visual editor for Glitch
I put together a little proof of concept showing the GrapesJS page builder integrated with Glitch via a browser extension, based on my work on https://simplepagebuilder.app.

@stefan im curious how well the html is once generated? is it accessible? that’s the major issue i find with website builders is that they are willing to forgo accessibility, so i’d be interested to hear how you are tackling that!

@foxes Fantastic question, thank you for bringing it up!
This project actually uses a third party editor, https://grapesjs.com. But I'm going to do a more thorough review and see where things can be improved. (The editor and its output can be relatively easily modified.)

@stefan im glad you’re thinking about it! a big reason why i don’t recommend people use website builders is specifically due to often inaccessible code that doesn’t follow semantic html nor follow accessible conventions, but ill definitely watch along and if it looks good ill be recommending it

@foxes From what I remember seeing earlier, I think things looked pretty decent, but I will definitely be doing a deeper dive. Thank you so much for bringing this up!

@stefan @bw For German talking folks, visit https://wiki.selfhtml.org/, which has been created back in 1995 by @StefanMuenz. It was back in the day (and still is) a great page to learn everything about HTML and more. Still have my shirt, which I have won back in the day in the forum once ️
