Happy #WorldSightDay!
To promote the importance of accessibility on social media, I'd like to propose a community action: When you see an image posted on your feed without alt text, instead of boosting it, or asking the person who posted it to add it, consider replying with your own description, together with the hashtag "Alt4You".
Trouble writing alt text for your own images? Tag your post with "Alt4Me", and someone will help you out!

@stefan Great stuff! I added the Harvard one to the 'Accessibility' category at https://birming.com/blog-inspiration/

@birming Nice, thank you for spreading awareness!

@stefan This is great advice. My personal rule is I don't boost stuff without alt text, unless I (or in rare cases, someone else) has added an #Alt4You reply. Also if there's room I try to add something like: "please consider adding alt text to your images, it helps keep the fedi accessible. Feel free to use or adapt this description!"

@Eliot_L Very thoughtful!
