For the second time since coming to Germany I've had a plumbing incident caused by steel drain pipe rusting.
Why do people make pipes which spend their entire lives wet out of a material which rusts? I've never seen such an issue in the UK, because basically all drain pipes are UPVC until they hit the sewer -
@erincandescent The fact that it rusts means that some idiot somewhere thinks itβs good for business, because now they can sell more pipes!

@[email protected] mostly a comedy answer but, really the issue is that the pipe isn't thick enough. My old house had a straight iron main sewer hookup. Never had a problem but the pipe wall was also like 3 inches thick.
