I drove a Tesla (work related, not by choice) and you literally have to fucking scroll on a touch screen to change gears (forward, reverse, park). Ignoring all of Elon musks other insane fascist bullshit, that alone deserves him a carbon fiber submarine ride to check out the titantic before it falls apart.

My wife really wants a car with a push button shifter. But every time I see a short of one of them getting towed with an that won't start, it's either a real chore to get it into neutral or you pretty well can't without a special tool. So they just stick them on skids and winch them onto the bed in park. That's nice for the parking pawl, I guess.
We have a 2012 Civic and a 2010 Sequoia. Neither of them need to be started to shift into neutral. They don't even need power. Just stick a tool into the release and put the shifter wherever you want it.
I also have a manual Prelude. To get it to roll, all you need is to put down the parking brake. I'm going out of my way to make my next daily driver a manual. I've got my eyes set on a 10th gen Honda Accord. I want a big sedan with a stick, partly for the lolz, but mostly because I've dailied enough crappy automatics that I just don't wanna anymore.

I don't give a shit about electric cars anymore, I'm just not going to have a car. They'll get me back when the gear shifter is some kind of a jacknife switch that throws sparks whenever I put it into drive.

Iβm gonna be in the market for a new (to me) car soon and Iβm looking to get something ~2015 and older because I hate all the new computer tech. All I want is Bluetooth, other than that I want a normal car not something designed by some dumb tech bro whoβs never driven a car in their life.

I definitely hear this comic

I absolutely love tech shit and touchscreens and LEDs and...I'm a total nerd for many decades now.
But in a car? I fucking hate it. I want haptic buttons. Period.
My previous car was totally digital, I was weak, with complete digital cockpit and no fucking haptic buttons. I hated this car once the wow-factor wore off quickly.
Sold it and got myself a tiny compact car with just android auto for navigation. The rest is haptic buttons.
Basically no car above entry or compact level is like that anymore. I fear the future... -

Iβm lucky enough that Iβve got a barebones 2003 that still runs great. Analog gauges, double DIN radio slot, and nothing else. Every time I get in a modern car, itβs information overload.
I donβt need a bell coddler. I need 4 wheels and a reliable engine.
Cars should be treated a lot more like factory equipment and a lot less like a living room on wheels.

The Musk Foundation didnβt do so well. Plus, allying with Garthe Knight was bad for their optics.

Not accurate it's missing a throwaway chick

I don't own a car and I feel so incredibly privileged. Whatever shit they do with cars, I just don't care. And I don't need to pay for it.

He wasn't able to travel far enough to get to that part.
-
don't worry
In the future, we won't drive cars anymore.
-
I absolutely love tech shit and touchscreens
I don't, because i know the mess behind it.
-
And even if he did she's into real cars
-
Really depends on where. Computer with touch? Nope. Car? Nope. Phone? Both please. Tablet? Yes. Any kitchens appliance? Hell no.

1990-2020 I can really see.
2050 not so much. But it will be less cars as poorer people, or people who only buy dumb cars will be left out. The good old mechanic things that last forever with good care are over. Now good luck to get a 7000,- cockpit replacement for your 15yrs old electric vehicle. Oh right, who cares, batteries are already borked. -

The windshield may be bug-free, but the car isn't.

The tradeoff is safety though. Surviving a crash without death or major injuries is much more likely in modern cars. ESP systems also decrease the likelihood of crashing in the first place.
