You remember these glasses from your last trip to #France, I guess.

@Gurre @jwildeboer maybe drop them a line to know about their resellers. For example Manufactum is a German company shipping internationally (they have the Picardie model in various size)

@jwildeboer remember how Duralex started, early '70 ties?
Making glass to absorp the huge amounts of surplus heat from the nuclear reactors.. -

@denkster Duralex was founded in 1945, not the 1970s.
-
@Maker @Gurre @jwildeboer
Manufactum was founded by someone supporting the right-wing extremist German party AfD (and previously others, IIRC). It is now part of the Otto empire.I think purchasing there would contradict the spirit of the story.

@PiiiepsBrummm @Gurre @jwildeboer waaaaaaaat, thatβs horrible! I had no idea about this (side note: how can I find out about those things?)

And here's a video (in French) telling the story and showing the people and the factory via @whreq (it also explains the mystery of the number on the bottom https://hsnl.social/@whreq/113297874659983802

Worth mentioning that theire iconic glasses (yep, that well known design is theirs) are also famous because of the special treatment during melting and forming which makes Duralex glasses almost unbreakable in common situations (dropping a glass from the tabletop will leave you with stains from the contained liquid but not with shards from the glass)

@schroedingershund Yes, it's tempered, not annealed glass (and I mentioned that in a few replies https://www.onedayglass.com/annealed-vs-tempered-glass-difference/

@jwildeboer heh, for what is worth, when I looked at the site today, the first thing on display was a warning that due to demand the delivery was likely going to be impacted and they thank people for being patient!

Do you know any? Most shops carrying household goods have closed in this area.

@caravantraveller Manufactum has them. There's also intergastro in Dortmund that offers pickup https://www.intergastro.de/lieferung-cms-page.pickup And when you order for more than 89β¬ at Duralex, shipping costs become 0. @bascht

It seems they are getting a lot of orders in and a lot of glasses are running out of stock So be patient instead of upset, OK? They are working hard and still have a lot of problems to solve. I was lucky and was able to order one of the last measurement glasses https://eu.duralex.com/en/products/precisio-transparent-glass-measuring-doser
