@liaizon the Taiwanese aren't the main suppliers of those, they are from mainland China/Hong Kong (I've bought the non rechargeable version myself before from both countries). However the Taiwanese won't sell a handful, they want 500 minimum order quantity and its at that point the middlemen importing them to the destination country can be targeted and a supply chain attack carried out..

"The explosive material, as little as one to two ounces, was implanted next to the battery in each pager, two of the officials said. A switch was also embedded that could be triggered remotely to detonate the explosives."
