Many are switching away from Big Tech right now.

@jon wish we had more choices for our mobile phones. Apple or Android only.

@jon don't you think the bashing is kinda dishonest considering how reliant Vivaldi is on Google to maintain Chromium?

@jon what if we didn't "switch" per se but started using some Big Tech services less and less ?
This polls need more options ^^

@jon
I wish I could that I have completely switched over, but I haven't currently. Email is probably the biggest issue since you can't transfer your address easily. There's also the issue of any mail I send or receive will likely go through big tech.Plus all the big tech services I need to use for university or other "official" purposes.
I have done as much as I can for now. But once I can afford to do so, I'm planning to get a domain to almost fully switch over.

If you use a mail client, such as Vivaldi, you can easily have multiple mail addresses and gradually move mail from one to another.

It is always difficult to come up with every single option. I do mention that I understand that doing everything in one go is not always an option. You just have to select the option most correct for you.

@jon I've been working at it a little at a time though some things, like getting away from Android and Apple, are harder to do than I'd like.

@jon One option's lacking: I never joined big tech.

@jon Consider an email service and client.

@jon It's harder and harder to switch to small tech. I'm taking baby steps. Thinking about my desktop OS and Office Suite these days.

@jon In 2012 I switched from WIN to Ubuntu. Now my wife will also switch to Linux because she forces to switch to win11 because the hardware is not win11 compatible. The hardware is working without problems.
Unfortunately, in the case of smartphones there is no alternative to Big Tech.

@jon Switching as much as possible but to be able to work and stay connected with friends/groups, society is βforcingβ me to keep fb, messenger, instagram, linkedin and youtube

@jon Iβm thinking more of building a life that the internet means absolutely nothing to. Some land near the Canadian border, lots of trees good cover. Might obscure us enough from the black hawks and apaches. Thank god Iβll have my trusty Walmart ar15 to shoot at them to reveal my cover and become Swiss cheese.
