Mark Zuckerberg continues to show his colors. We need regulators to step up their efforts to ensure there is free competition and ban user profiling.

Zuckerberg urges Trump to stop the EU from fining US tech companies
Comparing the bloc’s antitrust penalties to tariffs, the Meta boss argued that Brussels is “screwing with” American industry.

@jon @EUCommission I (unfortunately) do not believe in the power of the regulatory authorities - whether in the USA or Europe. They are far too bureaucratic and slow. The path we have to take is to inform ourselves and fight for our freedom and the freedom of the Internet: free browsers, messengers, social media - as independent as possible ... There are so many alternatives; We just have to use them and do it - similar to a great browser company from Norway - Vivaldi and his great team !!!

It's terrible what's happening. Zuckerberg is a cowardly opportunist. We need to unite and consolidate Europe, we already have the best laws and policies in the world on social media and AI. But at least as important is the “vote with your feet”: stop using X and Meta as soon as possible! This also applies to European politicians and their staff! Here is a current petition:
https://www.openpetition.eu/petition/online/an-open-letter-to-all-european-politicians-and-leaders-to-abandon-x-twitterWe must seize the opportunity of the (evil) hour and cheer on the move away from X and Meta! Talk about it everywhere. Don't forget letters to the editor in the newspaper.
What once began as an information channel and free forum has become an infusion tube for political poison, malice and lies. Get rid of it! And here is some help:
https://de.helloquitx.com/And remember: When freedom of speech was guaranteed, no one's voice reached around the globe.

Are there any plans to defederate Vivaldi Social from Threads given these changes in moderation policies? I haven't seen many reports of hate speech from there (yet), but surely staying peered with a platform with those policies is unacceptable, especially with many other major servers blocking them as well.

@secbox , I believe the main problem with services with content algorithms is that they tend to push bad content. That will not impact what you see on Vivaldi Social.
The best solution is to have your home in the Fediverse, but follow certain people on services such as Threads. I wish they were here, but it is nice to not have to be there to be able to see their content. Closing on that would be counter-productive at this time, IMHO.
