Perhaps my most useful tiny print.
This is a pegboard anchor for an M3x16 bolt, it takes almost no filament and prints in literally 1 minute after getting to temp. And yet, it’s strong enough (even in PLA) to hang even heavy stuff.
The key is that it expands as the m3 bolt cuts its own thread in the (softish) PLA, wedging itself into the rear of the pegboard.

Now on printables:

@linux_mclinuxface oh neat. I wonder how well a 3d printed drywall anchor would perform...

@megmac they exist! I do recall seeing a video that compared them. They did okay, but not as good as a manufactured one.
I wouldn’t use one unless I was in a pinch since they are cheap and accessible. The pegboard anchor is pretty odd ball.

@linux_mclinuxface Nice! Basically like my #Screwiverse for the #HoneycombStorageWall but for a normal pegboard.

@linux_mclinuxface This is cool, but long-term I’d feel much better printing it in PETG or maybe even nylon. PLA has a habit of “creeping” (flowing like glass) when under sustained load. I think when used like this to hold up something heavy it will gradually pull out of the hole, or lose its grip on the screw, or both, and then fail catastrophically. Could take days or weeks depending on the load, but it will happen.

@dwineman nope.
Filament racks have been mounted with this system for just about a year. Printed in plain PLA.
They’re holding 50 kg or so. Multiple anchors, of course, but still under quite a load.
