anyone know if the narwal freo robot vac is actually any good? don’t really want to spend $1500 on an appliance and then have it be disappointing…

no but seriously. they claim it only generates 50dBm of sound pressure while running. that’s about as loud as a fan.

@risottobias i already have to deal with nvidia drivers at my job. i don’t want to deal with them outside my job too.

@ariadne Find the one that runs locally, ideally some sort of API hosted on the vacuum to control it. Imagine using a GPU to dynamically calculate the ideal cleaning route!
Edit: Alternative: Vaccum Cleaner Racing!

@ariadne I have ping'd my friend who is a robot vacuum purchaser and I'll get back to you with what they say if they don't answer themselves, assuming they answer (it's a bit late)

@ariadne once mine dies (and I stop feeling compelled to repair it), the next one is going to be something that can run #valetudo

@craftyguy yeah the ideal would be a vac which is both quiet and running libre firmware. in this case i prioritize quiet over libre though, because i want it to run while i’m asleep
