I really hope she's growing more confident. She wasn't even having a real problem with the material just second guessing herself and erasing so much she'd get confused and lose the thread.
We practiced just going with her first idea and seeing how it worked before considering crossing it out.
And I gave her a black pen and took her pencil and eraser away. Some students do not benefit from erasers.

I agree absolutely. Erasers are for people who know exactly what they're doing and how to do it. For exploration and learning they're useless.
