@dansup yes and no... sounds easy when just seeing this. But content creators who do not participate into "opensource" or free content, will never switch to such a platform. You want to get money out of your content (paid by views, clicks, sponsoring, product placement, ...) - everything you don't have here. So, the mass for the mainstream content remains where the typical content creators are - and that's (luckily) not the Fediverse. It's that easy - it's just about $$$.

"VC funded" and "capable of financial support for creators" are not the same.
Email was not set up by VC's and yet to this day it continues to be more important than social media to marketers as it's a channel to speak to your customers that you can own without platformslocking off and charginf for you to reach (eg Facebook, Twitter, Insta et al).
We "just" need better funding options than surveillance advertising. Experiments are happening now. It's just a matter of time.
