#Trump #CashesIn during final wks of his campaign
No candidate has ever so closely linked his election w/personal #ForProfit enterprises, selling items from shoes to books to pieces of his suit. With <10 wks before the #election, Trump had a msg for voters in late Aug: He would be selling more digital trading cards for $99 each.
“50 all new stunning digital trading cards — it’s really something,” Trump says.“These cards show me dancing & even holding some bitcoins.”

Buy 15 or more of the digital cards, he said, & he would mail a single physical trading card. Those came w/a special perk: “An authentic piece of my suit that I wore for the presidential debate.” 5 of the suit pieces would even be autographed, he promised. Those willing to buy 75 of the cards—at a total cost of $7,425 —were invited to attend a gala dinner at his country club in Florida, he said. “Let’s have fun together,” he said
[AGAIN THAT’S $7,425 effing dollars!!! ]

On Tues, he again took to social media for another post: selling a book—$99, $499 w/his autograph—of pictures of himself. “A MUST HAVE on US History,” he said. In both cases, the money isn’t going to his campaign but #ForProfit ventures he earns millions from promoting.…selling a staggering array of merchandise that includes signed bibles where he receives a royalty for hawking them, pricey sneakers, gold necklaces, cryptocurrency cards, pens, books, licensing fees on overseas properties & more.

@Nonilex Since this is apparently an okay thing for presidential candidates to do now, Kamala should 100% come out with a line of Kamala Chucks. The campaign would make a fortune overnight.

Hell, I'd buy a pair.

@Nonilex Consider... there are far more controls around money given to finance political campaigns than selling products. If Trump sells stuff as merch, he can do things like legally have non-US residents buy it, which they can't do as a political campaign donation. He can then use the money however he likes, both towards his political or eating gold infused caviar on a megayacht in the Greek islands.
Yeah, he's 100% a grifter, but he's not stupid.
