The influencer economy is about to crash. Influencers on the big social platforms will be supplanted by AI characters that produce better conversions than human influencers. And they will replace a lot of ads, too.

At least that's my prediction.

I'm sure happy we have the Fediverse.

@Iamgroot11 Not necessarily. I think people will interact with artificial "people" for the same reason people read fiction or watch fictional movies and not just documentaries.

@noctilua Meta has stated many times that one of the reasons they implement ActivityPub for Threads is to enable people to leave. (But the jury is still out on how realistic that is...)
