Why does iOS let so many apps get out of date?

Why does iOS let so many apps get out of date? I’m on Wi-Fi at work and home. I have automatic updates turned on.

@amerpie Same here, my iPhone's (and any iOS device) have never updated automatically. My wife's iPhone never updates so she is always behind in OS and app updates. I'm not sure where they get their stats that users always update to the latest iOS.
