I REALLY don't want to join #Bluesky and love it here on the fedi.

@josh thank you! I basically just post all the stuff my wife doesn't let me tell her. Lol
-
I will give it a try tomorrow. This is what this step looks like on my end, and I tried it on two different machines (same USB ISO image).

@codemonkeymike Welcome! There are plenty of great people here, it just takes a little time as you build and connect to your community on your terms.
-
Thanks for your feedback. I will be watching your other instructional videos, starting with installing software tomorrow.

@codemonkeymike Believe me, I get it. As it stands right now, I can't say that I'll ever invest enough time or energy in Bluesky to get the full experience of it and give it a fair shake.
But I'm on it so if any of my friends or people that I know happen to show up there and make it their home, at least I can communicate with them in their domain.
Honestly, my main idea now is just to make it my "fine upstanding corpo wageslave" vanilla persona and maybe just post harmless stuff over there and save all my weirdness and cyberpunk leanings for over here.
But I get it, I do. I just wanted to say that it's okay to be on both, because you shouldn't be made to feel like you have to pick just one to be "right".

@8744781f42a20add2f942a2b4feabca5b451ca22c17e20db7884f55d72f30a56 nice. It's a weird concept at first, but when it clicks it's hard to see a better way to build a system. For me at least.
But even I bounced off nix a few times before it stuck. But I've been full time for 3 years now making it the longest distro I've ever used. By far
-
@SynAck I appreciate that. I do need to be reminded of these things every now and again!
-
@codemonkeymike I don't recommend Bluesky unless they fundamentally change some design decisions.
The public blocking data and selectively allowing some forms of bullying to run amok made the platform a big "no" for me.
-
@josh yeah. Exactly. And the big elephant in the room is, what is the path to monetization and sustainability?
They're in the user grab stage now. But then what? It'll be the same old shit as FB and Twitter.
I just don't wanna
-
@codemonkeymike stay here, it's great!
-
@jelcoward I'm not going anywhere. Esp after the response from this post!

@codemonkeymike itβs right for me at this stage. Solid tiling with good defaults. Full desktop with all the stuff. A bit of customizables. Fast. Clean.

@codemonkeymike i'm just commenting for transfem* representation uwu. tho.. i merely 'use' linux. i'm not nerdy about any of the stuff you mentioned. (besides being an environmental leftist and therefore despising canonical, manjaro and any project with ai written on itπ₯΄)
-
@codemonkeymike no Elixir anymore for me but I can offer posts about @CrystalLanguage and #RubyLang every now and then.

To each their own, but for me, I have zero interest in any other social platform than the fediverse. The community is plenty large enough, diverse enough, interesting enough, to work for me. I have no fomo about any of the corporate and vc backed projects. Hopefully you'll stick around here, the more the merrier, at least to an extent. Haha. I'm ok with certain types of individuals staying over on the dumpster fire or moving to one of the others.
