@stefan
I've tried it in the past.Tried it but ended up quite rapidly hating the regular work it entails.
Professional work already requires regularity, I learnt that a hobby can't be a constraint in my life (my real life being what it is etc.). -

@notabene Yeah, the pace can be a bit too much. But if you don't approach it with an "all or nothing" mentality, it can definitely still be fun.

@stefan My silly idea was to start with one of those daily-for-one-year challenges that were common a decade ago.
My motivation has never recovered -

@notabene Ah, yeah, that's ambitious.
Hey, maybe you could start your own some day, with much looser rules!

@stefan In the #cardmaking world monthly and weekly challenges are super common.
I participate in two monthly challenges this year and organize another one myself. For October I've also signed up for a weekly Halloween challenge. Fun!
Here's the YouTube playlist for the September challenge that I hosted. The theme was Stencil All the Things!

I made a few small updates to the site to make it easier to browse events, and link to them.
For example, here are all the recurring music-related events.

And now you can add each event to your calendar, so that you don't forget to join!

I'm using https://add-to-calendar-button.com for this. Unfortunately, not all email clients support recurring events, so those don't show up as options.
I might look into alternatives that handle this better, so if anyone has suggestions, I'm happy to hear them!

@andypiper Thank you for sharing this!
It was actually me learning about Blaugust on its last day that inspired me

@[email protected] I hate challenges associated with creative activities. It's a competitive spin to something that by nature should be as removed from competition as possible.

@DavidBHimself I hear what you're saying, but I think with most of these challenges the goal is to give you some ideas for projects to work on, and create a community where you can share your work, and learn from other people.
There are typically no prices, so you're really competing just with yourself to see how much you can achieve.
But this format clearly doesn't work for everyone. Personally I like to learn by doing, and I definitely like the community aspect.
