Real talk - would Peter Thiel's redpill/Gamergate bullshit campaign have even worked if all the institutions and major poltiical parties in the US were NOT simply fighting to fellate the next billionaire donor?

It's the inequality as a root cause.
I don't give a fuck what any choads are verbally expressing.
People are choosing chaos and a deconstruction of institutions that they felt haven't served them for years over continuing them.
You innoculate by addressing the needs of, and improving the lives in demonstrable ways (NOT with crumbs while billionaires rake in %$5.5 trillion) of, the most vulnerable. You don't tell them to eat shit sandwiches or that their lived economic experiences "dont match what the data says." Perchance most of the wealth has just gone to billionaires, thought of that?
The CIA uses the Gini coefficient for a reason. Would be nice if we had updated calculations for these. Were handy in 2008.

The wikipedia page contains a (quite shocking) pair of charts that demonstrate how bad the situation is. As a #Dutch person I was particularly struck by #Netherlands having worst coefficient in 2019. 🤯

A Dutch economist took that on. It does offer some like cautionary tale that I become more sensitive to especially these days.
