Album 5/20: "The Prayer Cycle" by Jonathan Elias. I'm an atheist, but damn do I love this album.

@sam I know the game is "no explanations, no commentary", but I'm very curious why you picked this Steely Dan album specifically. I like them a lot, but it seems like an unusual choice.

@donutage oh interesting, I don't really know how to answer that. Why *not* this one I guess? I would have said it was the boring obvious choice! I just listened to it a lot growing up, and later when I was doing some audio engineering this was the thing I listened to if I needed to test speakers, or the sound in a space and didn't have the actual band or whatever yet. It got to the point where I knew basically every sound in every song

@sam Cool. I guess I was thinking that some people consider Pretzel Logic to be "peak" Steely Dan. Can't Buy a Thrill is probably my personal favorite on the strength of "Dirty Work" & "Kings". There's stuff I love on all their records though.

@donutage Pretzel Logic is just okay in my books. I kind of find it boring (relatively speaking, it's still great) next to the funk/R&B influences in Aja. I do love "Can't Buy a Thrill" though!

Album 15/20: "Celtic Requiem" by Mary McLaughlin. I have multiple religious albums in here despite not being religious, but the opening notes of this album are fantastic and it was always my go to "quiet study album" in college.
