My short #Beetlejuice review:
-
@masukomi Just way too much going on.
-
Michael Keaton is on screen for *seventeen minutes* in the first #Beetlejuice.
Beetlejuice doesn't appear (in full) in the first film until *forty-five minutes* into the movie (other than the back of his head at 11 minutes, and the TV commercial at 25 minutes)
He only wears the "signature" striped suite in *one scene*, but more iconically on the VHS box.
I don't know how many minutes he's on screen in the sequel, but it felt like a lot more and a lot earlier.
-
@jsit smh, too much 'juice
-
@Thomas It’s just too much of everything!
Cut the budget in half, get rid of Willem Dafoe, cut 15 minutes off the runtime, pare the story down.
-
@jsit I haven't seen the movie, but never in my life have I thought, "get rid of Willem Dafoe"
-
@Thomas Love him but his storyline just needed to go. The whole thing topples under its own weight.
-
@jsit I think there was the same amount of Juice… but there was way way way too much plot. 86 the manager, 86 the actor cop, 86 the soul sucker, 86 one musical number, and lose 20 minutes and maybe it works. Also, there is such a thing as too much camp.
-
@kay I would wager there were at least 30 minutes of juice time.
-
@jsit Maybe. Besides the musical number at the end I felt his scenes were fairly brief. Could be wrong though!
-
@kay I looked for it on the torrent sites just so I could measure this. Need to go to a discount matinee with a stopwatch.
