Not content with turning on Ian Dunt for the hideous crime of criticising her mate Kemi Badenoch, the Queen of the Transphobes has decided she gets to define who is and is not a lesbian. And guess what, if you're a lesbian who supports trans rights, you're not a "real" one.
-
@ianb why? Why is she so determined to hurt people
-
@Tattooed_Mummy @ianb The more extreme she gets, the more she only gets approval from people who are as or more extreme than her, the more extreme she has to become to get the dopamine hit of approval, and so it goes ... the same thing that makes stupid little boys into incels, or bored entitled boomers into racists.
-
@Tattooed_Mummy @ianb ouf, the biphobia and bierasure in one of those quotes.
I wish we could just ignore her. The press are platforming her. She's a bigot. Why on earth would anyone ask her about LGBTQ+ issues?
Because she's famous. She's not qualified or empathetic. She speaks for the cosy status quo, of people suffering in silence as long as she's comfy.
Funny how the women who won't wheesht, seem to be the ones that want their loved ones and friends to wheesht.

@onepict @Tattooed_Mummy @ianb
I just don't understand what she is thinking.
If, as she claims, she's just concerned about protecting women, why doesn't she focus on cishet men? Abusers of women are almost always cishet men, and all respected organisations for the protection of women focus on this.
And why does she talk about trans issues as if trans men don't even exist?
It's the 1960s discourse on homosexuality all over again, as people pushed back against legalisation by claiming gay people were child abusers, and they were "just thinking of the children" when they wanted to maintain a ban on being gay.

@onepict @Tattooed_Mummy @ianb
It's just like you say Esther, she has to twist everything and everyone out of shape to suit whatever her pet narrative is, no thought given to the truth or the damage she causes to already-persecuted minorities.
-
@FediThing @onepict @Tattooed_Mummy @ianb ah, you've fallen into the understandable trap of expecting her to be thinking. She has long since reached the Orwellian point of writing via knee-jerk rather than with brain.
-
@klepsydra @FediThing @Tattooed_Mummy @ianb I fully expect her to go down the Posy Parker fascist pipeline.
She reminds me of some of the mum's who would be teaching helpers at my secondary school in the earlier years. Where they started to hand out anti abortion propaganda.
It might have worked, but I studied women at war in world war one. So it countered it. It's all we can do. Reading about backstreet abortions made me realise safe legal options are necessary.
-
@klepsydra @FediThing @Tattooed_Mummy @ianb It's all we can do, is ensure accurate counters to disinformation are available.
To ideally not engage with her.
To speak with folks who are affected. Not some rich bored lady with ideas of being Miss Jean Brodie.
-
@FediThing @Tattooed_Mummy @ianb Some folk aren't good with feeling discomfort, or feeling unimportant.
That part I can sympathise with.
I can't when you're rich, influential and literally punching down. When you're part of a majority group with power and influence, which TERFs are, it's evil.
-
@FediThing @Tattooed_Mummy @ianb It's trying to take us back to an idea of feminity that never existed for many women. It's about enforcement of those norms. It's also a distraction from all the other things.
But it's also all the same fight. It's about Human Rights. Its about trying to take those rights away and to try to break the solidarity we have for one another.
Rowling isn't for solidarity. She's for control and the status quo. She's also missing the adulation she got for her books.
