It's quite wild to me how most people here are against any corporately funded social media.

It's quite wild to me how most people here are against any corporately funded social media. Yet I see almost no discussion about the SWF which controls AP and is funded by....corporate social media.

@BeAware What are you referring to when you say SWF and AP?

@BeAware Two things:
SWF doesn’t control AP, technically AP is simply a W3C protocol standard. At most, a working group makes decisions about the protocol with lots and lots of input. SWF is capable of sponsoring work in this area, but it primarily starts as dedicated interest groups working on specific areas, like long-form content or threaded group forums.
The corporate donations SWF has received are pretty much a drop in the bucket. Each contribution is far less than you would imagine. It’s not nothing, but the idea that corporations are falling over themselves to have a seat at the table is somewhat disproportionate to what the foundation was donated. They can maybe only afford to fund a handful of efforts for a couple thousand bucks here and there, but they’re absolutely not swimming in Zuck bucks.

@deadsuperhero well then there's another major issue. Clarity.
None of that is said anywhere on their communication channels.
If there's nothing said, it's all speculative and I don't exactly trust their partners and have been given no reason to.
