Apparently posting like a madman is entertaining...I've gained like 50 follow relationships this week alone.

In my teens and twenties my friend and I would come out the local pub, pick up a Chinese takeaway from the local Chinese takeaway (always chicken curry and rice) and sit in the local war memorial and just talk for hours about stuff and nonsense and not remember any of it the following morning. Needless to say we had the same conversations over and over.

@partnumber2 that sounds fun!
Not sure how old you are, but I'm here to tell you, age is irrelevant when it comes to memory for some folks.
I barely remember shit.
Unfortunately, it seems the stuff I remember the most is the traumatic shit. But... c'est la vieโ๏ธ

If I tell you I was a teen in the late โ60s/early โ70s you might get some sense of how old I am, that and dipping into my granโs tin of Cadburyโs Lucky Numbers

Thatโs the war memorial weโd sit and chat for hours. The Chinese takeaway was just off to the right.

@partnumber2 ah! You're about my dad's age. Born in the 50s?
I'm turning 32 on Friday. Still can't remember shit.โ๏ธ

@partnumber2 that's one old pic!
I remember looking through albums full of pictures with this kind of patina when I was at my grandma's house. My old pics that I dont have anymore, would mostly be polaroid or 90s "disposable" camera patina.

Circa 1972
The white building on the right was the fish & chip shop (recently opened after being the newsagentโs). To the left of that is the Post Office and then the pharmacy with the off-license next to that. Then there is the recently opened Co-op which moved from about half a mile away.

@partnumber2 damn. That's cool.
All of those buildings still in operation? Besides the coop that moved? I'd assume so, since Post Offices are govt. and pharmacies are where you get legal drugs, those probably wouldn't go out of business.
A lot of the older businesses and buildings in my area have shut down, been abandoned, etc. But then again, I'm in a poverty stricken state.

The buildings are still there but their use has changed many times over the years, mainly because a new set of shops were built to the left of the picture.
It has changed so much in the 50+ years since I left. It was a proper village when I first lived there in the early โ60s but changed so much even whilst I grew up there.
The first picture shows the original pub and the second one shows the rebuilt pub.
