Community Announcement: Unplanned Outage and Recovery

Sorry for the outage yesterday!

TL;DR: We ran out of disk space on our database server while we were busy with other upgrades, which caused logins, posts, and feed updates to stop working. After troubleshooting, we fixed the issue and the instance is now fully operational. No data was lost. This outage was not related to the upcoming Mastodon 4.3 upgrade.

Out of curiosity, what is the disk space utilization like?

Currently the DB uses about 93GB on disk in /var/lib/postgresql/
