Pixelfed has reached its Kickstarter Goal in Just 13 Hours

I suppose, but he did start name-calling just because another developer had the audacity to start building their own fediverse photo sharing platform. Then apologised and removed the toot.
Bearing in mind the other developer also actually built a functioning and rather excellent third party Pixelfed app that he wrote because he got frustrated with the lack of development on the Pixelfed app, which was available on app stores years earlier, it seemed beyond unnecessary.

The people there seem pretty chill in my experience so far.

Dansup is walking, most of everyone else is talking.
Isn't that because Dan hasn't open-sourced his project yet and doesn't let anybody else contribute?
-
FYI "darling" can also be used with a spouse or romantic partner. It has a similar meaning in this case, where "darling of the group" means everyone really likes them, even if not sexual.

awesome. I think this will really motivate people moving over to stay for a bit.

And he has turned over Mastodon to a non-profit company which should be able to gain more resources to develop Mastodon.

Wrong: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/blob/dev/LICENSE
and doesn't let anybody else contribute?
Hmm, while there have been 158 contributors, a very small percent were from the other developers: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/graphs/contributors
This information is pretty easy to look up.

Why is it so inactive? I made an account and there are barely any posts or activity.
-
I moved from Instagram to Pixelfed around a year ago and went from barely anyone seeing my photography to literally no one seeing it.
-
They don't have proper "trending" page, that's why it seems barren.
At least on Pixelfed.social, there are a lot of active photographers, both casuals and professional posting their work there.
