Kind of feel like you are missing the point. People are not deciding whom to vote for based on who the paper endorses. People are aghast at a paper's billionaire owner intervening in the matter of the paper's endorsement at the last minute based on some sort of quid pro quo or obeyance in advance to a prospective fascist autocrat. It is the implications of this action that are a shock to the senses and a wake up call that democracy is really on the line.

This extends past the editorial into the journalistic practice of a newspaper. If opinion can be quashed, so can fact.

And we know that both the Washington Post and the New York Times have been horrible this election with regard to holding the candidates to different standards and sanewashing Trump's nonsense. This brings all those actions into focus as service to their prospective fascist overlord.
