One instant it's summer -- sun beating down
the next, it's deep winter, the tree branches bare
Then: SPRING

@clive The historical predecessor to street view can be traced to the the Aspen project from the MIT Media Lab in 1978. In that system you could travel down the roads that had been filmed using a 4 movie camera rig, transferred to LaserDisc. Multiple players were controlled by a minicomputer. In that system you could switch from views of the fall to views of winter.
