We just published a new Common Craft video that explains the #Fediverse and #ActivityPub in about 3.5 minutes. I'd love to know what you think: https://youtu.be/VmSWPj0T9IQ?si=2AbwNYzCQh90cfBe

@lee Of course one can argue that they have not "joined" the Fediverse, but considering the target audience of such video, this can be painfully confusing. I don't know what is the best approach to address this though. -

@joho @lee FWIW this is being (gradually) discussed through the W3C social web community group https://swicg.github.io/activitypub-data-portability/
-
@lee I shared this and there is a fair amount of attention over on that thread -> https://macaw.social/@andypiper/112487185068296827
-
@lee by the way, maybe a copy of this video on a Peertube instance would be more on-brand for the #fediverse

@lee Great video! There is a typo in the subtitles somewhere halfway through: 'Fetaverse' instead of 'Fediverse'.
-
I was thinking the exact same thing: "Where's the #PeerTube link!"
-
@StevenRogge Thanks for catching that!
-
@julian Thanks, Julian. This was a big challenge to explain. I created many versions of the script and restarted it multiple times.

@Mehrad That's a good point. That section of the video is intentionally vague, as I want the video to be as timeless as possible. Everything is always in flux and trying to capture enough of an idea to make the point, while allowing for evolution, is part the goal.

@ScottStarkey @andypiper I'm happy to share it on PeerTube. Are there any instances you recommend?
-
@ronlichty I'm curious about that. Theoretical - like it's about something that may or may not be real?
-
@lee @ScottStarkey I personally use diode.zone but that is generally for the electronics maker community - TILvids maybe?
