I feel like a worrying amount of shows and films I like don't pass or just barely pass the Bechdel test.

I know it's not an actual measurement of the quality of female representation in media, but it's still a pretty good measurement of trends in a given sample size. Especially considering how easily shows and films pass the reverse Bechdel test (examining male characters instead of female ones). It shows a very clear bias.

@dopey_kun It just sucks that almost all media seems to be made for the male gaze, and if they don’t then everyone complains that it is “woke.” Women are half of the population and people can’t even handle seeing them in media :btr_seika_bruh:

@fujiwara also, media that's made for men are seen as the default and being for every one. Whereas media made for women is seen as exclusively being for women.

@dopey_kun I think a lot of people would be happier and better off with shojo in their life :btr_ryo_lurk:

@fujiwara I'm definitely trying to get more shoujo in mine. Though funnily enough, my least favorite part of shoujo is the depiction of male characters, just like how one of my least favorite part of shounen is it's depiction of female characters :ChikaScared:
That's probably a sign to watch/read more seinen and josei.

@dopey_kun Sometimes I can’t say that I don’t I like a little spice in my life sometimes :zerotwoevillaugh: but as I get older I definitely agree that seinen and josei are definitely the superior genres imo. I was obsessed with Nana back in the day, it’s up there as one of my favorites.
