The Human Veil – Breath of Morning
Ambitious, sprawling and ever-evolving soundscape that blends elements of drone, dungeon synth, noise, musique concrete, lo-fi and more into a dark but inviting listening experience.
Breath of Morning, by The Human Veil
Breath of Morning by The Human Veil, released 01 October 2024 1. Side A1 (Terra Firma) 2. Side A2 (A Sliver of Moonlight) 3. Side B1(Slowly Sinking) 4. Side B2 (Cycles of The Sphere) The new eldritch ritual from Chicago-based artist The Human Veil is a truly monolithic feat of aural ritual; clocking in at two hours long across two sides, “The Breath of Morning” is a continuation of the piece “The Birth of The Human Veil” and is a chronicle of grief, loss, and the abyss found in the depths of the human soul. The Human Veil is a dark dungeon doom project, equally inspired by atmospheric dungeon synth, caustic black metal, and blistering harsh noise in an effort to conjure infernal cathedrals and depravity in the mind of the listener. From howling screeches of agony, to plaintive, classically-inspired melodies; the Human Veil aspires to bring a darkly romantic air to an audience familiar with artists such as Depressive Silence, Mortwight, and Ghoëst.

Kristoffer Lislegard – Subsupra
A mysterious and intriguing post ambient release that deconstructs electronic music tropes to impressive results.
Subsupra, by Kristoffer Lislegaard
Subsupra by Kristoffer Lislegaard, released 06 October 2024 1. Come Up | Breakthrough 2. Laminar Flow 3. Luminary Change 4. Prism 5. Equivalent Nitrogen Depth 6. Metanoia On Subsupra Kristoffer Lislegaard explores the relationship between foreground and background elements in the music, playing around with expectations and norms for how sounds usually are supposed to be presented. For example there are parts where the background elements are louder than the lead melody, and sounds created by using noise reduction software in reverse to output what is usually removed. Another influence for the sound design on this specific album comes from often experiencing auditory hallucinations while falling asleep.

I asked my favourite people for their opinions on this album, here they are: Reviewer 1: "This album sounds as if it was made in a garage. Also, the songs sound like songs, good job" About the song "paranoid": "You sound like Shadowheart in this song" Reviewer 2: "Wow this hits hard" Reviewer 3: "You need better gear/software, it's your only limitation here"
