I think you've understood marriage correctly, that's basically how I think of it. It would make sense to be praised for staying in a relationship for years without having legal strings discouraging you from leaving it. Yet no one ever does that. If anyone says anything to you about being in that situation it is indeed "so when are you getting married" like what you're doing is wrong or not enough.

I don't think you understood what I'm saying.
My gripe/problem/feud/issue is about people who are miserable in their marriage but they will always be there to sell their shitty marriage like it's a golden ticket out of anything and everything If you follow their shitty steps. If you have a happy marriage (not you personally) I salute you and your partner and I have nothing to say.
I'm mature enough to know that anything and everything that involves 2 people in any amount of time would have some difficulties.
But that doesn't change the fact that people whom are trying to sell you on marriage 99% of the time are the ones that have shitty marriages.

This is mostly my job. I don't do field work nearly as much anymore but for the most part you just need to have confidence and/or not bullshit the good ol' boys.
Like some of the reddest parts of the country have some of the most stringent water rules and regulations. For good reason: their regulators can't fuck around and so they don't.

And they’re going to call me a liberal which is offensive.

It's fine to empathize I think. I understand their point. I also pity them for being so misled and diluted.

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers.
These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. -
