The counterculture has different subgroups, but they fall under the same happy non-conformist family, for example hippies, bikers, otaku etc. Or at least that’s how I think of it.

Goths are non conformists too. Isn’t shouting “conformist!” the whole joke every time the Goth kids show up in South Park?

I like the South Park breakdown actually. Goths hate the world and just kinda feel and vibe with the suffering; punks hate the world and are screwing “fuck you” at it.

For goths, I think the Smiths. “Meat is Murder,” working sucks, life sucks, I’m going to sing and feel bad about it and maybe kill myself. Get me out of this place!
