Currently reading the French translation of Singularity Sky, by @cstross and I’m wondering why the translator thought it was a good idea to translate that perfect title into "Crépuscule d’acier" (which means "Dusk of Steel).

@jenesuispasgoth @ploum It was indeed (and I have no idea why they did it).

@cstross @jenesuispasgoth : is it a thing only from French publisher or is it happening in every language?

@ploum @cstross @jenesuispasgoth I haven't seen a Danish translation of this one, but Danish translations of both book and movie titles are notoriously ridiculous. "The Shining" became "Ondskabens Hotel" (= "The Hotel of Evil"), "Jaws" became "Dødens Gab" ("The Mouth of Death"), etc. etc. etc.

@jenesuispasgoth @ploum @cstross You know, that's arguably better than the original!
