@RL_Dane @[email protected] Why did you leave Fosstodon?

Didn't leave it, per se, just thought it'd be fun to join the polymaths community and make it my main instance for the time being.
My only complaint about fosstodon is the typical 500-char Mastodon post limit. That just tripped me up all the time. I'd write a response, then have to break it up, often in the middle of a paragraph, often breaking up a maybe 1200-character toot into 4-5 toots, just because of where the break fell. It was really annoying.
I don't believe in toot-blogging, and I definitely don't intend on using the full 5000 characters, but I just like to respond freely without dealing with artificial limits.
Otherwise, let's do 144 characters like old-school Twitter if we want to have an actual restraint.
But that's just a minor gripe.

@rl_dane Haha that SMS constraint was hilarious due to all the toilet tweets!
I agree 500 character limit has limited my replies at times.

@rl_dane Don't you recall the early days where people were tweeting what they ate or when they were in the bathroom? It was ridiculous. I can't imagine using sms texts as posts for a social network now
