There's this Canadian sports streamer called TSN and I noticed they were advertising 4K broadcasts, so I'm checking out this CFL BC-OTT game and boy does it ever look sharp but I'm wary that I'm placebo-ing.

@timbray I subscribe to TSN and their app doesn't stream 4k. You need to use a computer. Kind of weird since my TV is 4k.
-
@human3500 I've got TSN apps on a 4k Roku and also my LG TV. So maybe? But I'll open the computer and check that out.

@timbray MLB (baseball) states : High Quality streaming allows you to access up to 5Mbps streams with 60 frames per second, depending on your network connectivity.

@tinfoiling Most NFL is low-quality 1080, I've been told that the investment to get to real 4K broadcast is huge. Not the cameras, the networks.
-
@tinfoiling I wonder how one would discover the truth? I.e. what's the data rate coming in over the network and what is the screen at the end of the pipeline actually seeing?

@timbray I have TSN and Sportsnet via coax cable and each has a 4k channel that I'll watch if my preferred sport is on. The resolution is nice.

@SeismoAllegra Wow, if they're saving their best product for old-school cable, that's sad.
