It’s three weeks until the election.
If you get pregnant today, and Trump is elected, by January 6, your body will no longer be your own. No matter what state you live in.
Do not share your reproductive status anywhere online.
I know you might be thrilled to be pregnant and sure everything will go well, but shit happens. Don’t leave a digital trail.

Also, DMs are not secure, text messages are not secure, public email servers are not secure.
If this bothers you, fucking get out and vote.

@Remittancegirl This is the saddest warning I've seen yet, and that's mostly because it's so wise.

It felt sad to write it, but it's not paranoia when someone has publicly TOLD you they'd take away your reproductive rights over and over and over. -

It bothered me, from the start of the Internet, that these well-meaning jamokes who put together IP did not remember to implement privacy.
It would be trivial. as Sweden has done, to have a personnummer system - but our goverment won't do it.
Don't ever let anyone tell you one political party has less scruples about privacy. We the people need to take privacy into our own hands - and boy howdy the government will not like it when we do.

This absolutely! Here's a common story. Know someone closely who had tried for a long time and finally got pregnant. Unfortunately at around three months the fetus became nonviable. That is, it began to die, end result not in question. It was devastating. And what compounded the trauma was the necessary D&C procedure was denied because there was still a heartbeat, albeit an ever weakening one. They would need to wait several awful days at increasing risk to their own health.

@mastodonmigration I often wonder if it is simply beyond the imaginary capacity of men to truly understand what a profound horror this is to a woman. Perhaps it is so fundamentally an embodied experience that it simply escapes all but the most empathetic men.
But I do not want to suggest that any reason why a woman wants an abortion is illegitimate. I have my own feelings about this, I do have feelings on limits. But I would never demand they be enshrined in law.

Horror is the right word. To have something dying inside you at ever increasing risk to your own life and have necessary medical care be withheld is beyond horrific. And to inflict that psycological torture and real risk on others is simply perverse. Don't know if it is that most men generally lack empathy or just find it impossible to identify with something alien to their own biology, but it is messed up.
