@elduvelle @neuralreckoning @cian I think we all maintain a zone or space of what we consider to be opinions a reasonable person could disagree on - beyond that a person is assumed to be, at best, ignorant, at worst bad faith, or morally defective
My impression is that, here, this zone or space is often quite tightly drawn (almost regardless of topic)
that can reflect good things (people have thought out, deeply held, convictions), but I think it also creates counter-productive friendly fire

@elduvelle @neuralreckoning @cian and (sorry to go on..) I think it’s compounded by the platform affordances that make it so difficult to distinguish when a point is welcome in conversation and when it’s not.
Things that might be welcome discussion points in a thread of its own might be unwelcome as replies.
That problem is inherent to all current social media (?), but I think it’s exacerbated here by the fact that people value discussion (which otherwise seems like a good thing!)
